Jesus College, Cambridge, Choir Visit

2010 December 9
by Gordon Reid

On Monday, December 13, St Clement’s will be hosting the boys of the choir of Jesus College, Cambridge, who will sing a lunchtime selection of Advent and Christmas music at 12.15. I doubt if we shall have a vast audience, though some of the thousands of people who work near us in Center City may use their lunch time for this special opportunity.┬áThe organ and acoustics of St Clement’s are so fine that I am sure the boys will enjoy singing here.

When I began my studies at The Other Place, I took a vague interest in rowing (though, ┬ábeing less than muscular, I could only contemplate coxing), and was amused to find that, while all the other Colleges could shout the name of their College in support of their boat, poor Jesus College had to shout “Name”. Maybe they kept the real College name for when they lost.

But I digress. The choristers will be singing, not rowing, and from reports I have received, they are among the best boys’ choirs in the world. So, don’t miss them on Monday.
